We didn't start The Lumina Project to save the world. We started it because we saw a very specific, entirely fixable problem in modern hiring.
We noticed brilliant, highly qualified candidates being unconsciously passed over by recruiters simply because their LinkedIn photo was a pixelated selfie. Meanwhile, candidates with less experience were standing out because they had the disposable income to spend $300 on a premium studio portrait.
Human beings judge visually in milliseconds. It is an unconscious bias, but it's real. A bad photo was acting as a completely unnecessary hurdle, keeping incredible talent locked out of the interview room.
